STUDENT TESTIMONIES
David
“In May of last school year, I had $700 left to pay on my school bill. Arriving home, I looked for a job, but I wasn’t hearing from any of the local businesses. I got tired of filling out applications, so I got my dad’s lawnmower and started pushing it down the street to mow lawns. God provided to the point where I knew this is what He wanted me to do this summer. When I wasn’t mowing lawns, God provided landscaping work. It was amazing to see His provision. But, I still needed $1500 for my down payment. The Heart Scholarship was for $2500 and covered all my down payment. It was a huge blessing. Praise the Lord. He is so good.”

“Hearing that I’ve received the Heart Scholarship was such a relief to my family and me. I only have one semester left of college and wouldn’t have been able to do it uninterrupted without the financial aid that Northland provides. Not only have the scholarships accomplished the financial purpose of helping me finish school, but they have also accomplished a far greater task: showing my unsaved family the beauty of the Body of Christ. My family has been able to witness firsthand the generosity of so many Christians. Looking back, I consider the financial struggles I’ve gone through to be a blessing because of the testimony it has been to my parents and siblings; they see me handle finances so differently than unsaved people and see Christians giving out of selfless love—often to a girl they don’t even know. I am so thankful for the haven that Northland has been for me as I have grown from spiritual infancy and for the donors that made my time at Northland possible!”

“Thanks so much for your sacrifice. I am an older student that got saved later in life and then called to the ministry shortly thereafter. I have been struggling financially through school because, financially, it all depends on me. I know what it means to work for money as I have had to sit out of school a total of a year and a half. I realize the amount of time it takes to make money. It is such an encouragement when people like you donate your hard-earned money to get the next generation out into the ministry faster. Only eternity will reveal the fruit of the labor that’s done for Christ. Thank you again so much for your great sacrifice.”

“I knew that God wanted me to come to Northland International University, but I had no idea how He would make that feasible. This was especially true considering that my parents couldn’t help me as they are Christian school teachers and have seven children dependent on them. I applied, nevertheless, and was accepted. I worked all summer about fifty to sixty-five hours per week. I applied and received money via the federal PELL program. I was even granted scholarship funds from Northland because my parents teach in a Christian school. This, however, was not enough to pay the entire balance. I met with Mrs. McLain in the Financial Aid Office before the semester started and explained to her my situation. She told me there was hope through a Demonstrated Need Scholarship. I was granted $2500 from this fund. Words cannot express the thankfulness in my heart—both to God and to generous donors who have made it possible for me to attend Northland this year!”

“I went home this summer having no prospects whatsoever for a job. Although jobs are extremely hard to find these days, I was able to procure a job as a nanny. This job was definitely an answer to prayer, but it did not pay nearly as much as was needed for me to get back to school. As the summer wore on, I began to wonder if the Lord wanted me to stay home for a semester or a year. I knew the Lord would show me one way or another. One evening I came home, and my dad looked at my mom and said, ‘Well, should we tell her?’ He got this funny look on his face and then subsequently informed me that I had received the Heart Scholarship from Northland. I just stared at him and then started to cry. The Lord has provided for me! I had always heard stories from other college students about how they had received money for their bill, and I had always wondered if that would ever happen to me. Seeing the Lord’s provision through this solidified in my mind that He wanted me back at Northland this year. He is truly Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord Who provides, and I am so thankful for His marvelous provision!”
